Not so long ago it was bustling with life as fishermen and boats crowded into the harbor. Today it is a perfect place to experience the rich birdlife. Experience when the first moorhens arrive in January or when flocks of thousands of barnacle geese land on the shore meadows.
The area is rich in history and just north of the harbor lies the beach medows of Gammalsby nature reserve where you can hike on the marked hiking trails and experience the grazed grasslands and shallow beaches, perfect environments for both nesting and resting birds.
For those who like to swim, there is a bathing jetty in the summer, and there is a bathing ladder on the north pier.
Here in the harbor you can park your camper or caravan overnight and wake up to the serenade of birds as the sun rises over the horizon of the Baltic Sea. It costs 150:- per night and if you want to use electricity it costs 50:- extra. There is access to a toilet and water. It is important that you state your vehicle registration number when paying.
